Media reports on graft allegations against a former chief of police have raised questions about the accountability of law enforcers, their professionalism and abuses of power. The Bangladesh Police Service Association released a statement claiming the reports were exaggerated and urging outlets to be cautious about publishing such articles. Muhammad Nurul Huda, former inspector general of police, says it is not the duty of the association to protect police personnel who have run afoul of the law. He joined ‘Inside Out’ to discuss accountability, the ways in which the police can become people-friendly, and how case investigations can be sped up.
