Two rats and a loaf of bread

Once upon a time, there lived two rats. One of them was dark in colour and the other one was grey.

One day, they found a loaf of bread on the road. They both laid claim to the bread and a quarrel broke out between them.

The dark rat eventually offered to share the bread.

“Let’s share the bread since we’ve both found it together.”

The grey rat refused the offer.

“I want to eat the whole bread by myself. I’m hungry and tired and I don’t want to search for food.”

The black rat was in a similar situation and it didn’t know what to do. Suddenly an idea popped into its head.

“Alright, you can take the bread since it’s getting late. I don’t want to be swallowed by the big cat that lives here. I am leaving. Bye!”

The grey rat suddenly felt scared. It didn’t want to face the cat and quickly left without taking the bread. The black rat was hiding in a bush nearby. After the departure of the grey rat, the black rat went back to the spot and picked up the bread.

“This is what happens when you’re greedy,” the black rat said to itself.
